Help Fund the New Brooklyn Community Education Center

Brooklyn is a town in Clay Township, Morgan County, Indiana, United States. Nearly 1/3rd of its 1,600+ residents are under the age of 18. Much of Morgan County’s poverty centralizes in Brooklyn, where 16.2% of the population live below the poverty rate—1/4% worse than all of Indiana and 2.8% worse than the average of Morgan County (City Data). Yet, unlike the residents of Mooresville and Martinsville, the needy in Brooklyn are isolated from resources within reasonable walking distance… even though most of Brooklyn is technically Mooresville address.

PX Didactic (PXD) is a charitable, non-profit organization of educators. We are a ministry of Horizon Christian Fellowship Morgan County. The mission of PXD is to narrow the economic inequality gap by eliminating education inequality and its causes. Our goal is to meet the “next step” educational needs of the disadvantaged (ex. tutoring, standardized test prep., personal & professional development). The only requirement for our devotion is one’s desire to learn.

We support the teachers, administration and school districts of Morgan County by coming along side them to advance both student AND parent success. We are a comprehensive, family-oriented program; and PXD agrees with the analysis & plan of administration, staff and superintendents regarding Brooklyn’s most recent academic standards findings.

PXD desires to renovate its newly-acquired base of operations, so that it is suitable for use as a community education center, especially an academically rich after-school program. Our site (9032 N Old State Road 67, Mooresville, Indiana 46158) is immediately adjacent to the most populated area of Brooklyn. The buildings we will utilize were built in the late 1950s. We need the following:

  • Electrical Wiring Inspection / Repair — est. $5,000
  • Drywall Installation & Ceiling Repair — est. $14,200
  • Light Fixtures Covering — est. $1300
  • HVAC Installation — est. $13,000
  • Starting Seasonal Salary for a Qualified, Part-time After-School Program Director & Executive Reimbursement — est. $16,500

All donations are tax deductible. Please use the iDonate Buttons [on the original post page] — where you can give anything of value.

We, the Morgan County Community & the Brooklyn Community thank you for giving!
